Overall Educational Objective These discussions as well as the up to date articles will help students to come up with new research ideas and eventually equip students with the skills to write their own research proposals.
Course Description This course aims to offer a broader understanding of negative attitudes towards outgroups in general, as well as successful interventions that have transformed deeply rooted negative attitudes. Additionally, the course will provide an overview of various intergroup conflict and polarization examples from around the world. Each class will feature discussions on the strengths and weaknesses of different interventions, with a focus on connecting the concepts and theories learned to encourage critical thinking. These discussions as well as the up to date articles will help students to come up with new research ideas and eventually equip students with the skills to write their own research proposals.

Course Learning Outcomes and Competences

Upon successful completion of the course, the learner is expected to be able to:
1) Demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of key concepts and theories in social psychology, including social perception, group dynamics, and attitude formation.
2) be able to identify, compare, and contrast various research methodologies used in social psychology, including experimental, correlational, and observational methods, and assess their strengths and weaknesses.
3) will develop skills to critically evaluate empirical research articles in social psychology, assessing the validity and reliability of research findings, and identifying potential biases and confounding variables.
4) be able to design and implement a basic research study in social psychology, including formulating research questions, developing hypotheses, selecting appropriate methodologies, and analyzing data.
5) will learn to effectively communicate research findings in written and oral formats, adhering to APA style guidelines, and articulating the implications of their research for understanding social behavior.
