Overall Educational Objective | To learn the foundations and key issues relating to cultural heritage law through UNESCO’s cultural heritage conventions and other international instruments, as well as Türkiye’s Law on the Protection of Cultural and Natural Property (no. 2863). | ||||
Course Description | This course is designed to provide students qualified general knowledge of key topics of cultural heritage law from an international and national law perspective, with a particular focus on archaeological heritage. | ||||
Course Description in Turkish | Ders kapsamında öğrencilere, uluslararası ve ulusal hukuk perspektifinden kültürel miras hukukunun temel konularına ilişkin nitelikli genel bilgi kazandırılması amaçlanmaktadır. Arkeolojik mirasın korunması hususuna özellikle değinilecektir. |
Course Learning Outcomes and CompetencesUpon successful completion of the course, the learner is expected to be able to:1) Understand the evolution of this body of law, its characteristics, the actors involved and the main legal issues surrounding the protection of cultural heritage 2) Define the various categories of cultural heritage and demonstrate how their protection is ensured in international law 3) Know the specific features of archaeological heritage, understand the problem of illicit traffic and compare the solutions brought by international and national law 4) Demonstrate a sound knowledge regarding the main issues dealt by Türkiye’s Law on the Protection of Cultural and Natural Property (no. 2863) |
