Overall Educational Objective | To learn the principal theoretical approaches to International Relations. | |||||
Course Description | IR 202 studies the main theoretical approaches to International Relations (IR). Topics include realism and its variants as well as liberal philosophy and more modern liberal theories ranging from regime theory, theories of interdependence, neo-liberal institutionalism to democratic peace theory. Economic structuralism, constructivism, the English School, critical theory and postmodernism are studied in the second half of the course. | |||||

Course Learning Outcomes and CompetencesUpon successful completion of the course, the learner is expected to be able to:1) Uluslararası İlişkiler'in başlıca teorilerinin ana argümanlarını tanımlamak ve tasvir etmek. 2) Uluslararası İlişkiler ve uluslararası sistemin doğasına ilişkin açıklamaları açısından Uluslararası İlişkiler'in çeşitli teorilerini ayrıştırmak. 3) Uluslararası ilişkiler teorisinin gelişimini şekillendirmiş olan anahtar metinleri eleştirel olarak değerlendirmek. 4) Uluslararası ilişkilerdeki her teorik yaklaşımın kuvvetli ve zayıf yönlerini değerlendirmek. 5) Uluslararası ilişkiledeki olayların analizine farklı kuramsal yaklaşımları uygulamak. 6) Uluslararası ilişkiler teorilerini bilimsel bir perspektiften değerlendirmek. |
