Overall Educational Objective To provide students with basic knowledge of alternative dispute resolution methods.
Course Description This course will provide the basic knowledge of the advantages and disadvantages of the most common alternative dispute resolutions such as mediation, conciliation, etc.
Course Description in Turkish En çok uygulama alanı bulan arabuluculuk, uzlaştırma gibi alternatif uyuşmazlık çözüm yöntemlerinin avantajları ve dezavantajları hakkında temel bilgilerin edinilmesi.

Course Learning Outcomes and Competences

Upon successful completion of the course, the learner is expected to be able to:
1) Understand the aims and types of alternative dispute resolution.
2) Identify the positive and negative aspects of alternative dispute resolution methods as compared to arbitration and litigation.
3) Follows the legislative movements in the acquis of the European Union and the Anglo-American legal systems regarding alternative dispute resolution methods.
4) Knows the regulations on alternative dispute resolution methods in the Turkish legal system.
5) Identifies the disputes that are suitable to be resolved by alternative dispute resolution methods.

10) Recognition for the need for, and the skills to pursue, lifelong learning, inquiry, and self-improvement.
11) Ability to formulate critical hypotheses based on psychological theory and literature, and design studies to test those hypotheses.
12) Ability to acquire knowledge independently, and to plan one’s own learning.
13) Demonstration of advanced competence in the clarity and composition of written work and presentations.

Homework and ProjectsPresentations of homework assignments will be 40% and final exam will be 60% effective in determining the final grade. In order to pass the course, at least 50% of the final exam must be successful.
