Overall Educational Objective The student will learn the audit system established within the framework of the European Convention on Human Rights and its functioning
Course Description In this course, the rights and freedoms recognized in the European Convention on Human Rights and the Additional Protocols, which raised the concept of rights and freedoms from the level of "ideals to be achieved" to the level of "compulsory legal rules" and thus is one of the most fundamental documents of "Human Rights Law”, especially in international law, will be examined in detail. In addition, the most fundamental feature of the Convention, namely the "sanction system and supervision" (i.e. the European Court of Human Rights and the individual application method) will be examined in detail. In this framework, how the Court defines and interprets these rights and certain concepts in the text of the Convention, and in particular "the method and form of reasoning in its judgments" will be examined in detail. Finally, the analysis of an application by the Court and its stages will be examined, albeit very briefly. Thus, the structure of the Court (Single Judge, Committees, Chambers, Grand Chamber) will also be examined together with the “application system”.
