Course Description |
Students will read academic and education-related texts intensively and extensively for information and comprehension. Develop the skills necessary for a critical approach to texts in English. Write appropriately and accurately for academic and professional purposes. Use an enhanced range of vocabulary and structures for different communicative purposes. |

Teaching Methods | Some lecture, but mostly seminar/discussion. Students will work in groups to negotiate understanding of the writing process. Selected readings will be read and discussed in the classroom then reaction papers will be written. Students will read and write inside and outside of the classroom. Exercises and activities that focus on specific reading and writing skills will be conducted. Students are expected to participate actively in class discussions. |
Homework and Projects | Students will have a writing assignment every week. Students are expected to read for at least 15 minutes per day for pleasure. Students are expected to watch the recorded lectures according to the flipped classroom methodology. |

Course Administration |
Attendance is required for 70% of the course session, if you exceed this you may fail by F or FX. Any plagiarism or academic dishonesty will be treated very seriously with the most serious appropriate disciplinary action in the education context. Plagiarism involves copying any material from a book, online material, or another student or your own papers previously completed and graded in other classes without using proper citation. Plagiarism also involves asking anyone to review or do your assignment.
Rules for attendance: The student must attend at least 70% of the classes.
