Overall Educational Objective | To learn the general concepts of construction site management and organization in civil engineering including modern day technologies, machinery and tools. | |||||||
Course Description | This course will familiarize the student with the definition and general characteristics of the construction site, the characteristics of construction projects, the determining factors in the selection of construction machinery and equipment, concrete and concreting works at site, formwork and earthwork calculations as well as occupational health and safety applications at the construction site. | |||||||
Course Description in Turkish | Bu derste şantiye tanımı ve genel özellikleri, inşaat projelerinin özellikleri, inşaat makina ve ekipmanlarının seçilmesinde belirleyici unsurlar, beton ve beton işleri, kalıp ve toprak işlerinin hesaplanması, şantiyede iş sağlığı ve güvenliği uygulamaları konularında çalışmalar yapılmaktadır. |
Course Learning Outcomes and CompetencesUpon successful completion of the course, the learner is expected to be able to:1) Organize a construction site 2) Select and quantify temporary facilities at the construction site; 3) Calculate areas and volumes of earthworks 4) Select and quantify earthworks equipment based on the nature of the work; 5) Select and quantify the transportation machinery based on the size and nature of the earthworks; 6) Understands the formwork design, formwork failures and safety at construction site together with formwork quantity take off; 7) Select and quantify the lifting equipment based on the project properties; 8) Explain the occupational health and safety at site including the necessary measures and safety gear. |
