Overall Educational Objective | To gain an insight into the main concepts of Schema Therapy and understand how it works in practice. | ||||
Course Description | Schema therapy blends elements from cognitive-behavioral therapy, attachment theory, Gestalt techniques, object relations theory, constructivist school, and psychoanalytic school into a rich, unifying conceptual and treatment model. This course aims to cover the theoretical framework of Schema Therapy with some practical issues, concerning mainly a case conceptualization. | ||||
Course Description in Turkish | Şema terapi, bilişsel- davranışçı terapiler, bağlanma teorisi, Gestalt terapi teknikleri, nesne ilişkileri teorisi, yapısalcı ekol ve psikoanalitik ekol gibi birçok kuram ve teorinin bir araya gelmesiyle oluşmuş bir tedavi modelidir. Bu derste öğrenciler şema terapinin temel kavramlarını öğrenecek ve vaka analizi üzerinden uygulamasını yapmayı pratik edeceklerdir. |

Teaching Methods | This course will be taught entirely in the flipped format. The instructor will deliver each week’s content beforehand, and students will be expected to acquire the relevant knowledge before the class. Classroom time will be used to practice and apply concepts and ideas through interaction with peers. At the end of each class, students will get a feedback through a mini quiz (won’t be graded) and be expected to use this to further their learning by using extra materials provided | ||||||||||||||||||
Homework and Projects | Each student must write down a case formulation of a person in accordance with the features of the schema therapy assessment process. Also, each student will hold a 10-minute PowerPoint presentation, about a recent academic article on Schema Therapy and its effectiveness in the field. After then, they required to reflect their own ideas on the topic and discuss with their classmates for another 5 minutes. | ||||||||||||||||||
