Overall Educational Objective | To become familiar with the relationship between cognitive science and philosophy; to be able to understand and articulate recent philosophical problems of cognitive science and their relevant with the concept of consciousness. | ||||
Course Description | This course aims to introduce the students to the recent discussions in cognitive science with regard to the concept of consciousness. Students are introduced to fundamental arguments of consciousness, for example in the context of philosophy and neuroscience. |
Course Learning Outcomes and CompetencesUpon successful completion of the course, the learner is expected to be able to:1) understand the recent discussions in cognitive science with regard to the consciousness; 2) evaluate scientific articles in relation to the research methods and theories employed; 3) demonstrate confidence comprehending English and communicating it in a scientific manner 4) create new research ideas; 5) discuss philosophical theories with regard to the concept of consciousness. |
