Overall Educational Objective To be able to think and evaluate correctly on legal issues
Course Description After analyzing the basic concepts of legal methodology, main discussions related to legal reasoning and legal interpretation will be revealed. The issues discussed around these topics will then be evaluated within the framework of judicial decisions.
Course Description in Turkish Hukuk metodolojinin temel kavramları analiz edildikten sonra hukuki akıl yürütme ve hukuki yorum metodları ortaya konulacaktır. Daha sonra bu konular etrafında tartışılan sorunlar gerçek hayattan alınmış mahkeme kararları çerçevesinde değerlendirilecektir.

Course Learning Outcomes and Competences

Upon successful completion of the course, the learner is expected to be able to:
1) Recognizes and applies the basic principles of law, legal theories, legal methodology, interpretation methods.
2) Follows, evaluates, interprets and applies current innovations and legislative changes.
3) Knows how to access and use sources of legal information, follows and evaluates current legislative amendments, doctrinal opinions and court decisions.
4) To be able to internalize social, scientific and ethical values while evaluating legal knowledge.
5) Identifies, evaluates and solves legal problems according to the general principles of law, de lege feranda and de lege lata; takes into account not only the national but also the international aspect of law and understands the importance of conscientious conviction in making decisions.
6) Criticizes legal disputes by evaluating legislative texts, judicial decisions and different opinions in the doctrine from an analytical point of view, forms its own opinions, identifies legal deficiencies and makes suggestions.
7) Perceives the problems of different branches of law, produces solutions by characterizing the complex problems encountered in practice.
8) As a socially responsible individual, participates in projects and various activities related to law, acts as an organizer when necessary, and effectively transfers his/her legal knowledge and skills to the necessary places (private sector, public sector).
9) To be able to follow the information in the field of law, communicate with colleagues and use information and communication technologies together with computer software at least at the level of European Computer Driving License Advanced Level required by the field of law, using a foreign language at least at the European Language Portfolio B2 General Level.
10) Develop a positive attitude towards lifelong learning.
11) Understands the development and change of society, its problems and contributes to the solution of problems with legal solutions when necessary.
12) Knows the national and international institutions and structures of law, their functions and contributes to their development.

8) Skills to communicate the knowledge of psychological science effectively, in a variety of formats, in both Turkish and in English (in English, at least CEFR B2 level).
9) Recognition, understanding, and respect for the complexity of sociocultural and international diversity.
10) Recognition for the need for, and the skills to pursue, lifelong learning, inquiry, and self-improvement.
11) Ability to formulate critical hypotheses based on psychological theory and literature, and design studies to test those hypotheses.
12) Ability to acquire knowledge independently, and to plan one’s own learning.
13) Demonstration of advanced competence in the clarity and composition of written work and presentations.
