| Overall Educational Objective | This course aims to reconsider and renew the theoretical knowledge of basic research techniques and methods for those who are working in the field or who are PDR/Psychology graduates and continue their career search, in order to prepare for the thesis phase and to conduct independent research. | |||||||||||||
| Course Description | Throughout the semester, research methods concepts will be discussed theoretically and practically with a focus on psychological counseling. Issues such as determining the research topic, transforming this topic into a problem and hypotheses, source scanning and literature writing, sample selection, limitations of the research according to the choice of research method, and data collection will be reviewed. Common mistakes made in thesis-project writing will also be questioned. |
Course Learning Outcomes and CompetencesUpon successful completion of the course, the learner is expected to be able to:1) It recalls the research methods and related processes that one has experienced to date, both as a PDR/Psychology student and as a practitioner in these fields. 1) Ability to discuss the differences and similarities between research methods in written and oral form 2) Ability to establish connections between theoretical knowledge and research applications 3) Mastering the common mistakes made in thesis-project writing 4) Ability to identify a research topic and transform this research topic into a problem 5) Ability to identify a research topic and transform this research topic into a problem 6) Being able to express the problem with a hypothesis in the light of the research method approach 7) Ability to scan sources and literature focusing on the problem situation 8) Ability to do academic reading 9) Ability to choose research strategy and sample 10) Ability to discuss the limitations of the research in light of the research strategy 11) To have theoretical knowledge about scales and scale development and to be able to choose a scale suitable for research. 12) Having knowledge of research ethics and being able to apply it 13) Mastery of APA spelling rules |
