Overall Educational Objective Theoretical and practical understanding and interpretation of advanced individual counseling theories.
Course Description In this course, advanced concepts of psychological counseling theories, advanced concepts related to the application of theories, psychoanalytic theory, humanist approach, existentialist approach, gestalt approach, solution-focused approach, cognitive approach, behavioral approach, mindfulness-based programs are explained.

Upon successful completion of the course, the learner is expected to be able to:
1) Identifies historical, contemporary, and future theoretical perspectives that underpin counseling practice.
2) Identifies and understands the practical challenges faced by practicing counselors.
3) Understands a variety of different developmental, personality, and learning theories and their relevance to counseling practice.
4) Applies and integrates theoretical perspectives into the understanding of counseling relationships.
5) Understands the conceptual processes of applying specific theory-based approaches to clients with different social, cultural and developmental characteristics.
6) Understands the processes for identifying and managing psychopathology as defined by specific therapeutic perspectives.
7) Can understand and apply theory-based evaluation procedures.

10) Recognize and consider a human development framework when implementing counseling services within a multi-tiered approach to prevention and intervention.
11) Write and interpret scientific research projects.
12) Analyze scientific researches and understand how research findings can be integrated into the counseling process in practice.
13) Demonstrates an ethical understanding of professional limitations and competencies and they understand how to self-evaluate their own performance in relation to these ethical standards.
14) Design a psychoeducation program to counseling practice informed by, and grounded in, theories, research, and personal experiences.
15) Demonstrate counseling skills that include interviewing and case conceptualization.
16) Apply and provide an individual and group counseling based on effective therapeutic factors and characteristics.
17) Recognizes the importance of staying dynamic and up to date by reading and continuing their experiences in the field.
18) Evaluate their own competencies and when working with a vulnerable population, continue to be reading and seek support or supervision from experts in the field.
