Overall Educational Objective This course is a course in which students who are working in the field or who have graduated from PDR/Psychology and continue to seek a career will learn and apply more advanced psychological counseling skills on top of the information they learned in undergraduate education.
Course Description Throughout the semester, basic and advanced psychological counseling principles, skills and techniques will be covered theoretically and practically. In addition, the multicultural psychological counseling process and the issues to be considered in the use of psychological counseling skills, as well as the skills and ethical issues to be considered in the process of providing remote psychological counseling services (online/telehealth counseling), which have become widespread with the Covid-19 pandemic, will be emphasized.

Course Learning Outcomes and Competences

Upon successful completion of the course, the learner is expected to be able to:
1) Understands how to integrate theoretical knowledge into the psychological counseling practice process.
2) Becomes sensitive to the needs of clients based on their culture, nationality, race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, education, SES, disability, and spiritual or religious affiliation, and acts professionally ethically
3) It shows the psychological counseling process and its stages (for example, how to conduct the first session and first session interventions, client evaluation, guidance, case conceptualization, selection of appropriate intervention methods, evaluation, termination and monitoring of the psychological counseling process).
4) Distinguishes the characteristics of effective counselors, values ​​and behaviors of counselors that affect the therapeutic relationship between the counselor and the client (e.g. the boundaries of the relationship) and the helping process.
5) Demonstrates an understanding of ethical and cultural strategies for establishing and maintaining relationships in the technology-supported psychological counseling process.

11) Write and interpret scientific research projects.
12) Analyze scientific researches and understand how research findings can be integrated into the counseling process in practice.
13) Demonstrates an ethical understanding of professional limitations and competencies and they understand how to self-evaluate their own performance in relation to these ethical standards.
14) Design a psychoeducation program to counseling practice informed by, and grounded in, theories, research, and personal experiences.
15) Demonstrate counseling skills that include interviewing and case conceptualization.
16) Apply and provide an individual and group counseling based on effective therapeutic factors and characteristics.
17) Recognizes the importance of staying dynamic and up to date by reading and continuing their experiences in the field.
18) Evaluate their own competencies and when working with a vulnerable population, continue to be reading and seek support or supervision from experts in the field.
