Overall Educational Objective To acquire the knowledge and skills involved in today’s global business and trade operations
Course Description Business leaders in today’s world must be familiar with, and have a perspective on, the dynamic and rapidly changing international conditions under which they must conduct their operations. In order to do so, students have to enhance their problem-solving and critical analysis techniques and to further develop their written and oral communication skills as these significant tools prepare students for successful future careers. This course is the foundation of international business with an emphasis on the operations, risks and advantages of doing business with foreign partners. This course will create a wide knowledge base on a number of major ideas that are associated with these topics. The themes which will be discussed include globalization, cultural and societal environment, trade theory, government in international business, entry modes, economic integration, emerging markets, financial institutions, organization, marketing and management strategy.
Course Description in Turkish Günümüz dünyasında iş liderleri faaliyetlerini dinamik ve değişken uluslararası koşullarda sürdürmek için temel kavram, bakış açısı ve bilgilere sahip olmak durumundadır. Bunun için, öğrencilerin problem çözme ve eleştirel analiz teknkilerini geliştirmeleri ve yazılı ve sözlü iletişim becerilerini güçlendirmeleri, ilerki kariyerlerine hazırlanmaları açısından büyük önem taşımaktadır. Bu ders, uluslararası işletmeciliğin temel kavramlarını, özel olarak yurtdışı operasyonlar, riskler ve avantajlara odaklanmak suretiyle tanıtmaktadır. Ders boyunca bu konular ile ilgili temel bir bilgi tabanı yaratılacaktır. Konuların aktarımında küreselleşme, kültürel ve sosyal çevre, uluslararası ticaret teorisi, uluslararası işletmecilikte hükümetlerin rolü, giriş modları, yükselen ekonomiler, finansal kurumlar, organisazyon, strateji, pazarlama ve diğer fonksiyonların uluslararası şirketlerde kurgulanması başlıkları tartışılacaktır.

1) Uluslararası iş yapmanın benzersiz yönlerini kavrayacak
2) Küresel para sistemi ve uluslararası ticaretin dinamiklerini anlatılacak
3) IMF, UN, WTO (ve GATT), OECD, NATO ve OPEC dahil olmak üzere uluslararası ticaretle ilgilenen farklı hükümet ve sivil toplum kuruluşlarını tartışın
4) Uluslararası pazarlarda rekabet edebilecek stratejileri formüle etmek ve analiz etmek
5) Sınır ötesi işlemlerde yer alan kültürel, yasal ve etik hususları anlamak

Teaching MethodsThis course is designed to provide students with an introductory exposure to many of the essential elements of international business in today's global system. For achieving learning objectives, the course will entail a set of related videos, readings, lectures, problem-solving activities and creative processes as well as interactions with real life businesses. With readings and lectures, you will be able to grasp the key issues of organizations whereas with case studies and discussions, you will find the opportunity to expand your perspectives and apply the theoretical knowledge to real life situations. The course will cover basic terminology and theoretical structure as well as practical implications. The methods which will be used throughout the course are real life case studies, group projects, presentations, in-class discussions and key note speaker addresses. Every member of the class is expected to freely share her/his knowledge, ideas and questions with the group without any concern. Throughout the course, experiential, constructivist, research-based and reflective teaching strategies are used. In all kinds of teaching and learning activities, student participation, active learning and learning by doing are essential.
