| Course Description | This course is an advanced level course on readings and research in the area of cognitive psychology. The main goals of the course are to develop a solid understanding of theories and empirical findings in readings and research in cognitive processes specialized in memory processes; to enable the students to conduct research, evaluate the results and write them in an empirical format; to enable the students to read and critically evaluate the research findings communicated in scientific journals. | |||||
| Course Description in Turkish | Bu ders, bilişsel psikoloji alanında okumalar ve araştırmalar üzerine bir derstir. Bu dersin temel amaçları, bellek süreçlerinde rol alan bilişsel süreçler üzerine okumalar yapmak ve alandaki teoriler ve araştırmalar hakkında bir anlayış geliştirmek; öğrencilerin araştırma yapmalarını, sonuçları değerlendirmelerini ve bunları deneysel bir formatta yazmalarını sağlamak; öğrencilerin bilimsel dergilerde yer alan araştırmaları okuyup değerlendirmelerini sağlamaktır. |

| Teaching Methods | Flipped format will be used for the whole course. Every week, students will be assigned to online lecture and related articles will be given before the class. At be beginning of the class, it is expected that students read the related articles and understand the concepts. In the second hour, these concepts and readings will be discussed by grouping students. One hour of the class will be a lab class where students are expected to work on their researches. All students are expected to be prepared for all classes and actively join the discussions, ask questions and try to find answers to these questions. In case students are having difficulties, they are free to contact the instructor anytime by e-mail. | |||||||||||||||||||||
| Homework and Projects | Students are expected to read articles given by the instructor each week and related book chapters before each course. They are expected to join the discussion sessions during the course. As a part of the project, students will also be asked to collect data and analyse it using SPSS and write an empirical article in APA style. | |||||||||||||||||||||
