Overall Educational Objective |
To become familiar with the concepts of natural language generation such as content selection, discourse planning, and surface realization and to learn fundamentals of intelligent dialogue systems such as dialogue semantics and strategies.
|
Course Description |
valuation of natural language generation and dialogue systems. The course will cover various concepts and research questions in language generation, such as input data representation, content selection, sentence planning, and surface realization (lexicalization and referring expression generation). The course will examine practical applications, starting from traditional rule-based systems to recent neural generators (e.g., Seq2Seq models). Moreover, the course will introduce the fundamentals of modern dialogue systems: basic aspects of data collection, semantics and pragmatics of dialogue, multimodality, dialogue strategies, natural language understanding, dialogue management, and evaluation techniques. The course also presents and compares recent state-of-the art dialogue architectures and conversational systems (chatbots).

Course Description in Turkish |
