Overall Educational Objective Değerlemenin temel ilkelerini anlamak ve bu bilginin şirkete değer katan finansal kararlar vermek için nasıl kullanılabileceğine ilişkin becerileri öğrenmek.
Course Description In todays’ business world, companies work in a more competitive environment that it had before. Thus in order to survive in this environment companies should institutionalize and decision making process in the management should be based on “increasing company value”. Thus the management should be aware of decisions that causes increases and decreases in the value of the company. Thus this course aims to provide a basic understanding of valuation principles to future management candidates which helps them to evaluate financial decisions on the basis of valuation principles.

Upon successful completion of the course, the learner is expected to be able to:
1) Bir şirketi değerlemek için genel kabul görmüş değerleme yöntemlerini kullanın;
2) Şirketlerin borsalarda nasıl değerlendiğini anlamak;
3) Kararların şirket değerlemesini nasıl etkileyebileceğini anlamak;
4) Rakipleri değerleme ilkeleri açısından değerlendirmek ve karşılaştırmak;

Required/Recommended ReadingsEvery week the course material shall be uploaded to BB as well as some discussion materials, articles and some reports. There will be not be a required text book but recommended readings shall be shared in BB.
Teaching MethodsThis course requires students to work seamlessly throughout the semester and requires a fair amount of doing calculations, reading and discussion. The students shall be asked to do small assignments before the class so that the classwork shall be used more efficiently. These assignments may require to work in teams and computers.
Homework and ProjectsThere will be small home works for students that will help them to understand the course material by actually doing it. Also a Project shall be demanded as Final exam note where the students shall use the information provided during the courses.
Laboratory WorkTime to time computer laboratory may be necessary. The lab hours shall be announced.
Computer UseStudents are recommended to bring their laptops to the class to better follow the course material and calculations done in excel.
Other ActivitiesTime to time there may be guest lecturers.

Course Administration

In this course, active participation is key to understanding the financial issues, thus questioning, discussing and sharing ideas and experiences are highly encouraged. For this reason the grading of the class participation will be done based on the quality of active student participation and contribution to in-class activities. Students are expected to attend all sessions and be in class on time. When they can not attend due to a sickness (which should require a report from a full facility hospital) or an excuse accepted my MEF regulations, they should inform the instructors by mail. As the feedback and questions are very valuable for making the course a distinctive learning experience, students may communicate directly with the instructor through e-mails for any course related issues. Academic dishonesty and plagiarism will be subject to YÖK regulation.
