Examining the phenomenon of political parties, which are the basic tools of democracy |
Course Description |
In general, why and how political parties were established; Their legal status and impact on the democratic system will be examined. In addition, the positive/negative effects of political parties' internal organization or "methods of gathering members or supporters" on the realization of a direct democratic system will be evaluated. |

Genel olarak siyasal partilerin neden, nasıl kuruldukları; hukuksal statüleri, demokratik sistem üzerindeki etkileri incelenecektir. Ayrıca siyasal partilerin iç örgütlenme ya da “üye veya taraftar toplama yöntemlerinin” doğrudan demokratik sistemin gerçekleşmesine yönelik olumlu/olumsuz etkileri değerlendirilecektir.

Course Learning Outcomes and Competences
Upon successful completion of the course, the learner is expected to be able to:
1) They will have full knowledge of why and how political parties were established.
2) They will have information about how the internal organization of parties will be in a democratic system.
3) They will have examined in depth the issues of "party bans" and "party closure" with examples from around the world and in Turkey.
4) They will learn the meaning and legal tools of the fact that the "political opposition" has a unique "sphere of influence" (within the Parliament) in Turkey, although it is the opposite in democratic systems.
5) They will discuss how "political parties" in Turkey can be made to function more democratically, properly and effectively, by taking support from examples in foreign countries, regarding their organization, activities, internal struggles and "bans".

Required/Recommended Readings | In the first lesson, they will be given a list of books and articles that they will read as "compulsory" and "optional". |
Teaching Methods | In the first lessons, the "main framework" specific to political parties law and the "main issues" in this context will be emphasized.
In line with this "main framework", students will be evaluated on which subjects they want to study and the topics will be determined.
Then, for a few weeks, the subjects taken by the students will be discussed one by one and the personal development of each of them will be ensured, both in terms of knowledge and "limiting the subjects".
And as a result of these studies, we will try to ensure that each of them becomes an expert on the "subject" of their choice and becomes effective and knowledgeable lawyers in the field of development of political party law in Turkey. |
