Aim of the Programme

The objective of our program is to educate future lawyers with a sense of justice and a strong understanding of law; who are able to create legal rules and are creative in applying them; who have a strong command of general principles of law and a good command of legal English; and who can practice law in public or private sectors. Besides its qualified and specialized academic staff and small class size, the most important distinguishing feature of our program is the use of newly emerging “Flipped Learning” model in certain classes. In line with our objectives, our curriculum includes courses related to refugee law, gender studies, neuroscience, information technologies, environment, and health that are currently relevant for Turkey. In addition to these, there are a wide variety of elective courses that are offered in law schools all over the world. Students are offered classes to improve their oral and written expression, including law and cinema; art of eloquence in the legal profession; law, literature and arts. Recent practices such as internships, certificate programs, legal clinics and moot courting which aim to develop the students’ ability to apply legal rules have all been integrated into the curriculum. In order to give students a strong grasp of legal English, at least 30% of each student’s elective and mandatory course load should be comprised of courses taught in English. In order to support a vibrant intellectual life, academic and practice-oriented conferences, seminars, panels are frequently organized.
