| Overall Educational Objective | The course is designed to introduce students to the basic concepts of international law and to provide a global understanding of the rules governing the relations in international society. The aim of the course is to improve their practical skills in legal reasoning and arguing the public international law issues around the world. | ||||
| Course Description | Public international law refers to the international legal system that governs the rights and obligations of states in their relations with one another, and increasingly, with non-state actors. This course provides a historically and theoretically reinforced examination of the doctrine, practices and institutions of public international law. Topics in this course include historical developement of PIL, sources and subject, territory and jurisdiction. | ||||
| Course Description in Turkish | Uluslararası hukuk, devletlerin aralarındaki ve devlet-dışı aktörlerle olan ilişkilerdeki hakları ve yükümlülükleri kapsayan hukuk sistemine işaret etmektedir. Bu ders doktrin, uygulama ve kurumların tarihsel ve kuramsal olarak pekiştirilmiş bir incelemeyi sunmaktadır. Dersin içerdiği başlıklar uluslararası hukukun tarihsel gelişimi, kaynaklar ve kişiler, ülke ve yetkidir. |
Course Learning Outcomes and CompetencesUpon successful completion of the course, the learner is expected to be able to:1) Understands the value of freedom of expression in social life. 2) Evaluates and interprets the limits of freedom of expression and unprotected expressions. 3) Recognizes international and national organizations operating in the field of freedom of expression. 4) It explains the balance between freedom of expression and the rights and freedoms that freedom is associated with. 5) Distinguishes the legal regime that governs the expressions of thought encountered in daily life and determines whether sanctions are appropriate. |
