Course Description |
This course aims to focus on organizational change in the broad theory and design of organizations discussion, with a real-life approach, which would enable the students to make the connections between concepts and the real-world implications of organizational design and change. The course has an integrated flow, specifically engineered for the topics to build on each other in a logical manner. |

Bu ders, geniş örgüt teorisi ve tasarımı tartışması içinde örgütsel değişim kavramına odaklanmakta ve öğrencilere teorik örgütsel teori ve tasarım kavramlarını aktarırken bu kavramları gerçek hayat uygulamaları ile bağdaştırmalarını hedeflemektedir. Dersin akışı bilinçli olarak konuların birbiri üzerine gelerek mantıksal bir şekilde inşa edilmesi şeklinde tasarlanmıştır. |
Course Learning Outcomes and Competences
Upon successful completion of the course, the learner is expected to be able to:
1) understand stakeholder approach to organizations and the basics of transaction cost theory
2) assess any organizational structure (i.e. product teams, outsourcing, etc.);
3) analyze and discuss the origins of organizational culture
4) analyze the complex relationship between international strategy and global organizational design.

Teaching Methods | Real life case studies, group and individual projects, power point presentations, online discussions, brainstorming, videos will be the essential part of the course.
The students are expected to come each session having read and watched the course material.
Participation, active learning and learning by discussion are essential. Every member of the class is expected to contribute to the subject and freely share her/his knowledge, ideas and questions. Throughout the course, experiential, research-based and reflective teaching strategies are used.

Homework and Projects | Participants are expected to:
• prepare case studies;
• participate in class discussions;
• study the assigned reading/ videos;
The students will be making two projects and presentations; one in the middle and one at the end of the semester. The details of the projects will be announced later by the instructor. Before the presentations, the projects have to be submitted as a PPT file within a deadline provided by the instructor. Late assignments will not get full points.

Class Attendance: Students are expected to attend classes regularly, be punctual, and complete all work whether present or not.
Class Participation: Each student must actively participate in class discussions in order to earn his/her "class participation" grade. It is not enough to join the class and just sit and listen to the instructor or other students. You will not earn class participation grade that way. Sometimes, I will call on students to answer questions and discuss class materials. Leaving the class session during the class before the break and without the permission of the instructor is strictly prohibited. Students will be encouraged to participate in class, and contribute to the learning experience. Students are always free and encouraged to give feedback and ask questions about the course via e-mail to instructor (kavadarlia@mef.edu.tr).
Make-up exams will be subject to the Excuse Regulation (link: (https://students.mef.edu.tr/tr/mazeretlerin-kabulu-ve-mazeret-sinavlarinin-yapili#gsc.tab=0). Students are required to submit a request (together with their reports) to the faculty secretary within three (3) days of the exam via this link: https://www.cognitoforms.com/MEFUniversity/MazeretBildirimFormu). The requests are discussed with the faculty board and the decision taken by the faculty secretary is sent to the instructor. Once the student’s excuse is accepted, the instructor and the student will decide together to arrange the place and time.
Academic dishonesty and plagiarism will be subject to the YÖK Disciplinary Regulation.
