Overall Educational Objective to be a good legal practitioner
Course Description In this course, the concept of norm will be analysed in the context of legal ethics. Ethical theories will be explained and discussed within the framework of practical legal problems. Finally, the ethical codes which are effective in Turkish legal system will be revealed and discussed.
Course Description in Turkish Bu ders kapsamında hukuk ve etik arasındaki ilişkinin ortaya konulmakta ve bu ilişkinin önemi vurgulanmaktadır. Bu bağlamda öncelikle hukuk ve etik kavramlarının anlamı üzerinde durulmaktadır. Daha sonra hukuk etiğine ilişkin temel tartışma konuları çeşitli hukuk etik kodları bağlamında ele alınmaktadır.

Upon successful completion of the course, the learner is expected to be able to:
1) To be able to distinguish the concepts of ethics, morality and morality,
2) To be able to identify the basic problems of legal ethics
3) To recognize the relationship between law and ethics and to understand its importance
4) Learns to make correct evaluations in law-related professions.
5) Develop an awareness of the ethical standards and professional responsibilities associated with the legal profession.

8) The ability to participate in and organize legal projects and activities as a socially responsible individual; to put his/her legal knowledge and skill to use efficiently (in the public or private sector).
9) The ability to use a foreign language at least on a B2 Level on the European Language Portfolio, to follow legal developments and communicate with colleagues in that language; to use computer software and information and communication technologies necessary in the law field at an Advanced Level of the European Computer Driving License.
10) Adoption of a positive approach to the concept of lifelong learning.
11) The ability to understand the development, evolution, and problems of the society and to contribute to the solution of these problems by legal methods.
12) The ability to understand the structure, organization, and functioning of law on the national and international level; to contribute to the development thereof.

Homework and ProjectsMeasurement and evaluation will be done through homework assignments. The final grade will be determined 40% on the midterm homework and 60% on the final homework. [In order to be successful in the course, the final homework grade must be 50 and above.] There will not be a make-up exam or an assignment that will determine the make-up grade.
