Course Description in Turkish In the age we are living in, the concept of "Personal Data" has been subject to considerable debate, due to rapid technological developments and the growing attention to the right of individuals to privacy. The management of data has become a very important topic, both for individuals, companies and governments. Accordingly, data protection law has become a hot topic, and subject to regulation by many countries including Turkey and international organizations including the European Union. These rules and institutions have regulated the rights of individuals, as well as obligations of “data controller” persons and entities. These new tools have created a delicate balance between the fundamental right of privacy and economic uses and value of data; thus it has become essential for the next generation of lawyers to have knowledge in this field.
