Overall Educational Objective |
To learn the basics of mobile communication principles used in early and new systems and to learn the systematics, analysis and design of mobile communication systems, as well as the relevant technological and regulatory infrastructure. |
Course Description |
This course provides a comprehensive introduction to the fundamentals and technological development of mobile communication systems and techniques. Topics covered in the course include: cellular systems and its design, radio propagation, path loss and shadowing, planning, optimization, mobile infrastructure and its components, Radio Access network & Core network structures, 1G to 5G technical infrastructure and its implications, regulatory infrastructure, fixed infrastructure, transmission systems, EMF, frequency recovery, evolution of wireless networks and next generation systems and satellite systems. |

Bu ders mobil haberleşme sistemlerinin ve tekniklerinin temellerine ve teknolojik gelişimine yönelik kapsamlı bir giriş sağlamaktadır. Derste işlenen konular arasında: hücresel sistemler ve tasarımı, radyo yayılımı, yol kaybı ve gölgeleme, planlama, optimizasyon, mobil altyapı ve bileşenleri, radyo erişim ağı ve çekirdek ağ yapıları, 1G'den 5G'ye teknik altyapı ve getirdikleri, düzenleyici altyapısı, sabit altyapı, transmisyon sistemleri, EMF, frekans geri kullanımı, kablosuz ağların evrimi ve gelecek nesil sistemler ile uydu sistemleri bulunmaktadır. |
Course Learning Outcomes and Competences
Upon successful completion of the course, the learner is expected to be able to:
1) comprehend the basic designs of cellular systems, RF network planning, mobile communication infrastructure, components and equipment, the features of mobile communication frequency bands;
2) design a mobile communication point (base station) in accordance with the regulations and safety distance/EMR values;
3) develop IOT capabilities with 5G and satellite technologies;
4) use the EMF/EMR measurement methodology.

Other Activities | As the course topics are covered, on-site visits to base stations, data centers and operation centers in a mobile phone operator and seeing the system and its operations on-site. Thus, students can see the theoretical information they see in the lessons and the working systems on site and listen to the experts of the business. |
