Overall Educational Objective | Students will learn the economic system and obtain profound skills to analyze economic situations which are relevant for lawyer’s professional practice. | ||||
Course Description | The course introduces to basic concepts of economics. The course content begins with the analyses of market mechanisms, which are perceived as the elementary organization form of the economy. Subsequently, the role of governmental policies and regulations are incorporated into the analyses. Firm behavior and the organization of the industry are described in further details. Long-run and short-run dynamics of macroeconomic variables are investigated. The analyzed theoretical concepts are critically reviewed by the help of empirical data. The course ends with applications of presented methods on selected special topics. | ||||
Course Description in Turkish | Bu ders ekonominin temel kavramlarını tanıtmaktadır. Ders içeriği ekonominin temel organizasyon biçimi olarak algılanan piyasa mekanizmalarının analizleriyle başlayacaktır. Daha sonra, hükümet politikalarının ve düzenliliklerin rolü analizlere dahil edilecektir. Firma davranışları ve endüstrinin organizasyonu daha ayrıntılı olarak açıklanacaktır. Makroekonomik değişkenlerin uzun vadeli ve kısa vadeli dinamikleri araştırılacaktır. Analiz edilen teorik kavramlar ampirik veriler yardımıyla eleştirel olarak incelenecektir. Ders, seçilen özel konular hakkında sunulan yöntemlerin uygulanmasıyla sona erecektir. |
Course Learning Outcomes and CompetencesUpon successful completion of the course, the learner is expected to be able to:1) The course objective aims to help to understand the world, in which we live, from the viewpoint of economists. 2) Create connections between economic situations and legal issues 3) A further objective is to give the students essentials tools to analyze economic situations and conditions once they participate in the economy. 4) The final objective is to use profound tools for better understanding of both, the potentials and the limits of economic policy |

Teaching Methods | The course will be constituted as an interactive lecture, making use of presentation slides, student working groups, excel sheets, classroom experiments, and multimedia materials. Student are encouraged to work in groups of 2-3 persons to understand the presented lecture topics.
