Course Description | This course, “Business and Human Rights,” offers a comprehensive exploration of the intersection between corporate operations and human rights principles. It examines the legal, ethical, and practical implications of how businesses influence human rights, providing students with a robust understanding of international standards and frameworks such as the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights. The curriculum covers essential topics including human rights due diligence, corporate accountability, sector-specific challenges, and the impact of emerging technologies on human rights. Through case studies, practical applications, and strategic analysis, students will learn to integrate human rights considerations into business practices, ensuring responsible and sustainable corporate behavior. This course is designed to equip future leaders with the knowledge and tools needed to promote and uphold human rights within the business context, fostering a more just and equitable global economy. | ||||
Course Description in Turkish | Bu ders, “İş Dünyası ve İnsan Hakları,” kurumsal süreçler ile insan hakları ilkeleri arasındaki kesişimi kapsamlı bir şekilde incelemekte, iş dünyasının insan haklarını nasıl etkilediğine dair yasal, etik ve pratik sonuçları araştırarak, öğrencilere Birleşmiş Milletler İş Dünyası ve İnsan Hakları Rehber İlkeleri gibi uluslararası standartlar ve çerçeveler hakkında sağlam bir anlayış sunmaktadır. Müfredat, insan hakları durum değerlendirmesi, kurumsal hesap verebilirlik, sektöre özgü zorluklar ve yeni teknolojilerin insan hakları üzerindeki etkisi gibi temel konuları kapsamaktadır. Vaka çalışmaları, pratik uygulamalar ve stratejik analizler aracılığıyla, öğrenciler iş dünyasının uygulamalarına insan hakları anlayışını entegre etmeyi, sorumlu ve sürdürülebilir kurumsal davranışları sağlamayı öğrenirler. Bu ders, gelecekteki liderleri iş dünyasında insan haklarını teşvik etmek ve korumak için gerekli bilgi ve araçlarla donatarak, daha adil ve eşitlikçi bir küresel ekonomi oluşturmayı amaçlamaktadır. |
Course Learning Outcomes and CompetencesUpon successful completion of the course, the learner is expected to be able to:1) Understanding and Application: Gain a solid understanding of human rights principles and apply them to business practices. 2) Legal and Ethical Insight: Identify and analyze key legal frameworks and ethical considerations governing business and human rights. 3) Due Diligence and Accountability: Conduct comprehensive human rights due diligence and ensure corporate responsibility and accountability. 4) Sector-Specific Knowledge: Acquire knowledge of human rights challenges specific to various industry sectors and develop strategies to address them. 5) Stakeholder Engagement and Communication: Engage effectively with stakeholders and communicate human rights issues and strategies clearly. |
