Overall Educational Objective Enabling the students to gain basic knowledge and the rules of civil procedure at the first instance courts.
Course Description The course will provide the basic knowledge of the first instance courts, the parties of the conflict and competency of the parties in a lawsuit, general principles of civil procedure law and the petitions to be submitted to the courts.
Course Description in Turkish İlk derece mahkemeleri, taraflar ve ehliyetler, medeni yargılama hukukuna hâkim olan ilkeler ve dava dilekçesi hakkında bilgi sahibi olunması.

Course Learning Outcomes and Competences

Upon successful completion of the course, the learner is expected to be able to:
1) Understand the place of civil procedure in the law, the application of civil procedure in time and place, the sources of civil procedure and the interpretation of the rules of civil procedure.
2) Understand the organisation of the courts and be able to apply the rules of duty and jurisdiction of the courts of first instance to specific cases.
3) Interprets and discusses the concepts of party, capacity to sue and be sued, authority to sue and be sued, status of parties, change of parties, representation of parties, litigation friendship.
4) Understands and interprets the principles of civil procedural law.
5) Understands the general information on litigation within the framework of freedom to seek rights, request for legal protection, concept of litigation, conditions of litigation, types of litigation.
6) Knows the mandatory elements and other elements of the petition and prepares a petition.

8) Skills to communicate the knowledge of psychological science effectively, in a variety of formats, in both Turkish and in English (in English, at least CEFR B2 level).
9) Recognition, understanding, and respect for the complexity of sociocultural and international diversity.
10) Recognition for the need for, and the skills to pursue, lifelong learning, inquiry, and self-improvement.
11) Ability to formulate critical hypotheses based on psychological theory and literature, and design studies to test those hypotheses.
12) Ability to acquire knowledge independently, and to plan one’s own learning.
13) Demonstration of advanced competence in the clarity and composition of written work and presentations.
