Overall Educational Objective To learn to understand urban transformation and production of public space by examining case studies from both Istanbul and other cities.
Course Description This course aims to explore the process behind public space production, avoiding the overused clichés about metropolitan life. The goal is to reveal the relationship between the city and the influencing factors of urbanization, including seemingly insignificant events, people, and situations—in other words, the everyday experiences of individuals in daily life. The course has a dual structure: the first part covers case studies from both Turkey and abroad that emerged in the 20th and 21stcentury, while the second part focuses on how diverse perspectives are applied in the process of public space production in Istanbul.
Course Description in Turkish Bu ders, kamusal mekan üretim süreçlerini, metropol hayatı ile ilgili sıkça başvurulan klişeleri kullanmadan tartışabilmeyi amaçlar.
