Course Description | This course provides a comprehensive introduction to some fundamental aspects of heating, refrigeration, ventilating and air conditioning in buildings. The following topics are covered: Introduction to heating, ventilating, air conditioning, and refrigeration, mechanical vapor-compression refrigeration cycles, mechanical vapor-compression refrigeration components and systems, thermodynamic properties of moist air, psychrometric processes and applications, the psychrometer and humidity measurement, heating and cooling of moist air by extended surface coils, human thermal comfort and indoor air quality, solar radiation, winter heat loss in buildings, air-distribution system and duct design, hydronic system design. | |||||||
Course Description in Turkish | Bu derste, binalarda ısıtma, soğutma ve havalandırma sistemlerinin esasları incelenmektedir. Dersin konuları şu başlıkları kapsamaktadır: Binalarda ısıtma, soğutma ve havalandırmaya giriş, buhar-sıkıştırmalı soğutma çevrimleri, buhar-sıkıştırmalı soğutma sistemleri ve bileşenleri, nemli havanın termodinamik özellikleri, psikrometrik süreçler ve uygulamaları, psikrometre ve nem ölçümü, nemli havanın ısıtılması ve soğutulması, termal konfor ve hava kalitesi, güneş ışınımı, binalarda kışın ısı kaybı, hava-dağıtım sistemi ve tasarımı, hidronik sistem tasarımı. |
Course Learning Outcomes and CompetencesUpon successful completion of the course, the learner is expected to be able to:1) design a mechanical vapor-compression refrigeration system; 2) analyse psycometric processes and their applications; 3) analyse solar radiation and its applications; 4) carry out a design of an air-distribution system; 5) design hydronic systems; 6) communicate effectively with a range of audiences; 7) recognize ethical and professional responsibilities in engineering situations; 8) function effectively on a team. |
