Overall Educational Objective To develop necessary professional skills and accumulate knowledge to function efficiently and effectively in complex environments and accomplishing strategic personal, academic, and professional goals for psychologists.
Course Description This course provides an examination and understanding of professional and interpersonal skills for organizational, academic and personal development of psychologists while presenting an outlook of various career options in different sectors.
Course Description in Turkish Psikologların organizasyonel, akademik ve kişisel gelişimi için profesyonel ve kişiler arası yetkinliklerin incelenmesi ve anlaşılmasını sağlarken farklı sektörlerde çeşitli kariyer seçeneklerinin tanıtılmasını içerir.

Course Learning Outcomes and Competences

Upon successful completion of the course, the learner is expected to be able to:
1) use computer technology and online / offline resources appropriately and responsibly to prepare concise, informative, clear, grammatically / format wise correct, properly citated and referenced, and ethically suitable resumes, online profiles, presentations, messages, mails and papers;
2) communicate effectively and efficiently with others to relay information, present data, defend an argument and/or propose an idea in complex and active academic, clinical and professional environments;
3) demonstrate an understanding and competence in career opportunities in organizational, clinical and academic psychology by advancing researching, analyzing and presenting information / data on relevant sectors, departments, firms, jobs, careers, influential figures, journals and linguistic specifics (jargons, terms, acronyms etc.).

6) Internalization and dissemination of professional ethical standards.
7) Demonstration of competence in information technologies, and the ability to use computer and other technologies for purposes related to the pursuit of knowledge in psychology and the broader social sciences.
8) Skills to communicate the knowledge of psychological science effectively, in a variety of formats, in both Turkish and in English (in English, at least CEFR B2 level).
9) Recognition, understanding, and respect for the complexity of sociocultural and international diversity.
10) Recognition for the need for, and the skills to pursue, lifelong learning, inquiry, and self-improvement.
11) Ability to formulate critical hypotheses based on psychological theory and literature, and design studies to test those hypotheses.
12) Ability to acquire knowledge independently, and to plan one’s own learning.

Teaching MethodsDuring this course, flipped learning format will be utilized. Students will be prepared for class by watching videos, reviewing the provided materials and reading suggested chapters and articles about the topic of the week. During the class time, they will work in groups and/or alone on various exercises. For some weeks, some Subject Matter Experts from the related field will be invited to the class in order to make students understand the real-world executions.
