Overall Educational Objective | To learn to understand the fundamental concepts in competitive strategy: industry analysis, strategy identification and evaluation, the relationship between strategy and organization, competitor analysis, firm and industry evolution, and strategic and organizational responses to external changes. | ||||
Course Description | Through the Business Practice course students learn practical tools and techniques needed to successfully plan and execute strategic outcomes. The students understand how to apply academic knowledge in the real-world. They get aware of the real-life applications of business plans and their executions through the guest speakers. The top executives transfer their experiences as students construct knows proper business planning and execution to ensure growth and financial sustainability. | ||||
Course Description in Turkish | İşletme Uygulamaları dersi ile öğrenciler stratejik işletme çıktılarının nasıl planlanıp uygulanacağına dair uygulamaya yönelik yaklaşım ve teknikleri öğrenirler. Akademik donanımlarını uygulama dünyasına nasıl aktaracaklarını anlarlar. Önemli kurumlarda üst düzey yöneticilik yapan konuk konuşmacılardan iş planlarının nasıl uygulamaya döküldüğünü öğrenirler. Dersin sonunda öğrenciler büyüme karlılığı sağlayan, başarılı ve gerçekçi iş planının nasıl planlanıp uygulandığını bilir. |

Teaching Methods | Across the class several methods will be employed to disseminate business practice knowledge as lectures, exercises, videos, cases, discussions and guest speakers. | |||||||||||||||
Homework and Projects | The students will form groups that consist of 4-5 students. Each group is due to present a Business Case to the hypothetic clients in one out of last three weeks. Class presentations at least must contain the ingredients stated in outline. However, students are free to add relevant ingredients, as it will affect their grade. girgina@mef.edu.tr Students are always free and encouraged to give feedback and ask questions about the course via e-mail to the instructor (girgina@mef.edu.tr). Assignments should be delivered as hard copies till the exact deadline. Late submissions will be accepted within 7 days; however, they will incur a penalty of 25% of the grade. There will be no exceptions so it is recommended to complete the tasks on time. When preparing the assignments students are expected to benefit from the web or other sources and avoid plagiarism. For sure the class will be much more deductive and productive by students’ participation, so students will be encouraged to contribute with their opinions and related examples during the class. Make-up exams will be subject to the Excuse Regulation (link: (https://students.mef.edu.tr/tr/mazeretlerin-kabulu-ve-mazeret-sinavlarinin-yapili#gsc.tab=0). Students are required to submit a request (together with their reports) to the faculty secretary within three (3) days of the exam via this link: https://www.cognitoforms.com/MEFUniversity/MazeretBildirimFormu).
