Overall Educational Objective To gain the basic level of knowledge and skills for career planning and the necessary career exploration and management skills and tools to effectively move forward in pursuing professional career opportunities.
Course Description Principles, methods, and practice in achieving career goals with emphasis on the exploration of career opportunities. Identification of strengths. Resume writing and development, cover letter composition. Interviewing, job offer negotiations, networking, professional image, and the use of technology in achieving career goals. Use aptitude and achievement assessments, to help participants evaluate their interests, skills, and abilities. Evaluate participants’ background and education. Help them develop realistic goals, job search skills, such as interviewing and networking.
Course Description in Turkish Kariyer fırsatlarının araştırılmasına vurgu yaparak kariyer hedeflerine ulaşmada ilkeler, yöntemler ve uygulamalar. Güçlü yönlerin belirlenmesi. Resume Yazma ve geliştirme, cover letter mektup oluşturma, İş görüşmesi, iş teklifi müzakereleri, iş dünyasında network oluşturma, profesyonel imaj ve kariyer hedeflerine ulaşmada teknolojinin kullanımı. Yetenek ve başarı değerlendirmelerini kullanmak, katılımcıların ilgi alanlarını, becerilerini ve yeteneklerini değerlendirmelerine yardımcı olmak. Katılımcıların geçmişi ile ilgili deneyimlerini ve eğitimini değerlendirmek. İş görüşmeleri gerçekleştirmek ve network kurmak gibi gerçekçi hedefleri koymaları konusunda yardımcı olmak

Teaching MethodsThis course is designed to provide students with the knowledge about recent developments and trends in Career Planning. In order to achieve learning objectives, the course will include reinforcement of active participation, quizzes. Summary of covered topics will be the opening activity for each class session in order to make sure that the most important subjects are reviewed and remembered by all participants. The methods which will be used throughout the course are real life case studies, group projects, presentations, in-class discussions. Every member of the class is expected to freely share her/his knowledge, ideas and questions with the group without any concern. In all kinds of teaching and learning activities, student participation, active learning and learning by doing are essential.
Homework and ProjectsThe students will be making a role play, one presentation as a group throughout the course. The groups will be formed and the details of the projects will be announced later by the instructor. Each group will have maximum 5 members and each team member will present their part individually.
