Overall Educational Objective To involve in the scientific research projects conducted by the faculty members from different areas of psychology and to be able to integrate advanced psychological research practice in those research projects.
Course Description This course includes advanced and further procedure and analyses of research in independent study in psychology. Students will engage in different steps of research projects including data collection, coding, or writing manuscripts together with the faculty member in a specific project. This course included advanced literature analysis in psychology. At the end of the course students will write a formal research paper or present findings verbally.
Course Description in Turkish Bu ders psikolojide bağımsız çalışma dersi ile ilişkili ileri düzey prosedür ve analizleri içermektedir. Öğrenciler, fakülte üyeleri tarafından yürütülen bilimsel çalışmalarda yer alarak veri toplama, toplanan verinin kodlanması ya da makale yazım aşamasında aktif olarak yer alırlar. Ders, psikoloji alanındaki ileri düzeyde bilimsel literatür analizi içermektedir. Dönem sonunda öğrenciler ya bir araştırma raporu yazacaklar ya da sözlü sunum yapacaklardır.

Upon successful completion of the course, the learner is expected to be able to:
1) evaluate advanced literature findings and scientific articles in area of interest in psychology;
2) engage in intense and further data coding process;
3) collect data (if needed);
4) evaluate the findings of research through the means of SPSS;
5) write or present research findings in an empirical format;

Teaching MethodsThis course will be taught entirely in the flipped format. The course involves a combination of lectures and discussions along with a hands on approach to research design in psychology. In the lectures students will be assigned research materials and research articles. The students’ grasp of basic concepts from the articles will be assessed and reinforced. Depending on the needs of research projects, students then will be involved in data collection, data coding or data analysis. Students will be in close contact with the faculty member and will be guided while gaining hands-on experience in actual research projects. So, each week students will learn to advance their literature reviewing skills as well as coding and analysing in SPSS. Students will be expected to prepare for class by spending sufficient time to master the preparatory materials.

Laboratory WorkStudents will use the lab SPSS facilities to enter and analyse the data they have collected as well as to do literature review for their empirical paper.
