Overall Educational Objective

To become familiar with the theoretical background for parenting science, to be able to use self-reflection techniques and groupwork, to integrate the practical information to daily and professional lives.

Course Description

The main focus of the course is to read, evaluate and critically discuss relevant theories, reviews, scientific studies, cases and have an in-depth understanding of some selected topics related to parenting. Throughout the course, students are expected to read/discuss various research papers and at the end, to prepare an informative leaflet for parents which addresses an important issue on the topic.

Bu ders, ilgili teorileri, incelemeleri, bilimsel çalışmaları, vakaları okumak, değerlendirmek ve eleştirel bir şekilde tartışmak ve ebeveynlikle ilgili bazı konuları derinlemesine anlamaya odaklanmaktadır. Ders boyunca öğrencilerden çeşitli araştırma makalelerini okumaları/tartışmaları ve sonunda ebeveynlere yönelik, konuyla ilgili önemli bir konuyu ele alan bilgilendirici bir broşür hazırlamaları beklenmektedir.

Upon successful completion of the course, the learner is expected to be able to:
1) Define the current topics related to parenting
2) Understand scientific and statistical methods used to study parenting from a clinical perspective
3) Understand key points related to this field
4) Understand intergenerational transmission of parenting and its effects on related topics and psychological symptoms
5) Put the theoretical knowledge into practice
