Overall Educational Objective At the end of the course, the students would be equipped with the necessary knowledge of theories in social psychology, in the field of moral psychology and would be able to understand and critique empirical articles published in high-impact psychology journals. Students will also be able to improve their scientific thinking skills to criticize the research findings and to produce good research questions that fill the gap in the literature. Finally, students will be able to present their research ideas in a convincing way and submit a good research proposal in an empirical format.
Course Description This course is an advanced course on readings and research in social psychology, mostly in the field of moral psychology. The main purpose of the course is teaching students to understand the main theoretical perspectives in the field and encourage them to pursue their independent research. Theories in the field will be taught, additionally they will be asked to apply the theoretical knowledge to real-life cases (if applicable) and integrate it with recent research findings, basically, this course is designed to teach students to understand advanced research findings, and to improve the quality of scientific thinking for producing good research.
Course Description in Turkish Bu ders sosyal psikolojide, çoğunlukla ahlaki psikoloji alanında okumalar ve araştırmalar üzerine ileri düzeyde bir derstir. Dersin temel amacı öğrencilere alandaki temel teorik bakış açılarını anlamalarını öğretmek ve onları bağımsız araştırmalarını sürdürmeye teşvik etmektir. Alandaki teoriler öğretilecek, ayrıca teorik bilgileri gerçek hayattaki vakalara (varsa) uygulamaları ve bunu güncel araştırma bulgularıyla bütünleştirmeleri istenecek, temel olarak bu ders öğrencilere ileri düzey araştırma bulgularını anlamalarını öğretmek ve bilimsel düşüncenin kalitesini artırarak iyi araştırmalar üretmelerini sağlamak için tasarlanmıştır.

1) understanding concepts and theories in the field of social psychology (moral psychology)
2) reading and criticizing recent research in this field;
3) enhancing critical thinking for the development of new research;
4) presenting the research project scientifically
