Expected Prior Knowledge | Prior knowledge in basic mechanical principles underlying modern approaches for design of various types of structural members subjected to axial load, torsion, bending, transverse shear, and combined loading is expected. | ||||

Overall Educational Objective | To analyze statically determinate structures subjected to dead and/or moving loads and determine internal loads, deformations and displacements. | ||||
Course Description | This course will provide students with a through introduction to the types of structures and loads, determinacy and stability, internal loadings developed in structural members (beams, frames), analysis of statically determinate structures and trusses, influence lines, deflection diagrams and deflections. | ||||
Course Description in Turkish | Bu derste yapı sistemleri ve yükleme tipleri, belirlilik ve kararlılık durumları, kesit zorlarının hesabı ve diyagramlarının çizilmesi, izostatik sistemlerin sabit ve hareketli yükler aitında hesabı, tesir çizgileri, şekil değiştirme diyagramlar ve kapsamlı bir şekilde incelenmektedir. |
Course Learning Outcomes and CompetencesUpon successful completion of the course, the learner is expected to be able to:1) analyze statically determinate structures (beam, truss and frame); 2) determine internal forces using equations of equilibrium in structural members (beam, frame, cable); 3) compute deflections of statically determinate beams; 4) construct influence lines for statically determinate structures (beam, truss and frame). |
