Overall Educational Objective | To learn the career counseling and guidance with an emphasis on school settings and educational implications. | ||||
Course Description | This course has two main purposes: to provide students with an understanding of career counseling and guidance with an emphasis on school settings and educational implications as highlighted in the School within University Model. This course is designed to aid students implement students' the basic concepts of vocational guidance and career counseling, theoretical and practical background, nationally standardized assessments, assessment and testing instruments and techniques related to vocational guidance and career counseling in various settings. The second purpose is to place students as full-time counselor assistants in a partner school with a mentor counselor. |
Course Learning Outcomes and CompetencesUpon successful completion of the course, the learner is expected to be able to:1) understand the career counseling and guidance theories and practices; 2) demonstrate understanding in obtaining information about education, career, and labor markets 3) know career decision making and career planning; 4) select, administer, score, and interpret career assessment instruments appropriate for both students and adults; 5) conduct individual career counseling and guidance sessions. |
