Overall Educational Objective To learn to understand the concept of industrial heritage and its terminology as a way of contextual thinking and industrial production environments by experimenting several re-used buildings and sites.
Course Description This course provides the student to perceive specific terminology for conservation and industrial heritage and to interpret on different examples in interior architectural scale. It questions building conservation and intervention criterias. It also provides understanding Haliç in industrial heritage context. Interior design survey and study in Tersane-i Amire will be held and the buildings will be discussed in the context of Haliç.

Upon successful completion of the course, the learner is expected to be able to:
1) understand the concept of industrial and cultural heritage;
2) ​present​ ​their​ ​reflected visions about historical buildings or sites;
3) comprehend adaptive reuse​ ​design​ ​precedents​.

Teaching MethodsThe course will have site visits, seminars by different instructors as well as extensive discussion by the class. The course follows the ‘Flipped classroom’ model, with all readings available to the students prior to class.
