Overall Educational Objective | To learn and practice the basic business communication skills so as to communicate effectively in business environment. | ||||
Course Description | The course mainly focuses on introducing the students both the theory and the practice of written, oral and interpersonal communication skills used in business life. During this course student will have the chance to learn, discuss and practice communication (verbal/non-verbal) and presentation skills, listening skills, communication barriers, writing skills, before and after meeting principles, interpersonal communication (emotional intelligence, empathy, social intelligence). | ||||
Course Description in Turkish | Bu ders öğrencilerin, iş ortamında etkin iletişim kurma becerilerini öğrenmeleri ve pratik yapmalarını sağlamak amacıyla tasarlanmıştır. Dönem boyunca öğrencilerle derslerde tartışılacak başlıca konular iletişim süreci, iş hayatında etkin iletişim becerilerine sahip olmak, sözlü ve sözsüz iletişimin temel unsurları, aktif dinleme becerileri ve yazılı iletişim olacaktır. |

Homework and Projects | The students will be making one presentation as a group at the end of the course. The groups will be formed, and the details of the projects will be announced later by the instructor. Each group will have maximum 5 members and each team member will present their part individually. Before the presentations, the group projects have to be submitted as a PPT file within a deadline provided by the instructor. Late assignments will not get full points. | |||||||||||||||

As the feedback and questions are very valuable for making the course a distinctive learning experience, students may visit the instructors during office hours or send e mails, for any course related issues. Make-up exams will be subject to the Excuse Regulation (link: (https://students.mef.edu.tr/tr/mazeretlerin-kabulu-ve-mazeret-sinavlarinin-yapili#gsc.tab=0). Students are required to submit a request (together with their reports) to the faculty secretary within three (3) days of the exam via this link: https://www.cognitoforms.com/MEFUniversity/MazeretBildirimFormu). The requests are discussed with the faculty board and the decision taken by the faculty secretary is sent to the instructor. Once the student’s excuse is accepted, the instructor and the student will decide together to arrange the place and time. Academic dishonesty and plagiarism will be subject to the YÖK Disciplinary Regulation. |
