Course Description |
Interest of the public in monetary policy, as well as the problems of the financial system increased substantially since the global and local crises. In addition, Turkey has experienced decades of high inflation, financial instability and a banking crisis in 2001, which hampered the potential growth of the economy. The course starts with simple models of interest rate and exchange rate determination and followed by the institutional and policy aspects of monetary economics, central bank independence to exchange rate regimes, monetary policy options. Second part covers banking sector, function of banks, basics of bank financial statements. Third part analyzes the causes and consequences of financial crises in advanced and emerging market economies.

Yaşanan küresel ve yerel krizler para teorisi ve politikasına ve finansal kesim sorunlarına dikkatleri çekti. Ayrıca, Türkiye uzun süre yüksek enflasyon, finansal istikrarsızlık ve arkasından bir bankacılık krizi yaşadı ve bunlar ülkenin potansiyel büyümesini düşürdü.
