| Overall Educational Objective | To learn to perform literature review about an industrial engineering topic and to propose a design that models a practical problem, which includes engineering standards, realistic constraints and conditions, by using the knowledge and skills acquired through previous courses. | ||||||
| Course Description | This course constitutes the first stage of IE senior design project. Students will first perform a literature survey on a problem that they selected at the beginning of the semester. Then, based on the problem selected, students will propose a design for a complex system, process, device or product under the supervision of their advisors. | ||||||
| Course Description in Turkish | Bu ders EM tasarım projesinin ilk ayağını oluşturmaktadır. Öğrenciler dönem başında seçtikleri bir problem üzerine öncelikle bir literatür taraması yapacaklardır. Daha sonra seçilen problemi baz alan kompleks bir sistem, süreç, alet veya ürün için bir tasarım önereceklerdir. Tüm süreç seçilen konunun danışmanının idaresinde sürdürülecektir. |
Course Learning Outcomes and CompetencesUpon successful completion of the course, the learner is expected to be able to:1) identify a practical engineering problem by using the techniques, skills, and modern engineering tools necessary for practice; 2) provide a conceptual design that models the studied practical problem, which includes engineering standards, realistic constraints and conditions; 3) organize and deliver effective verbal, written, virtual, and graphical communications; 4) define professional and ethical responsibility followed during a design process and critique the impact of the conceptual design in global, economic, environmental, and societal contexts; 5) function effectively as a member/leader of a team; 6) analyze and interpret the identified problem and proposed solution using relevant data; 7) recognize the importance of acquiring and applying new knowledge as needed. |
