Overall Educational Objective To observe and analyze different dimensions of language learning and teaching in the classroom by cooperating with mentor teachers.
Course Description In this course, pre-service teachers will be placed as assistant teachers at one of MEF University’s cooperating educational institutions under the guidance of an experienced teacher to attend 2 days a week (Tuesday and Friday). This course aims to give them a structured introduction to teaching, helps them acquire teaching competencies and develop teaching skills in school environment. Student teachers are expected to perform observation and application tasks that they carry out in a primary or secondary school under the guidance of a cooperating/mentor teacher and university supervisor. This internship will provide the candidates with the opportunity to observe EFL classrooms and analyze different aspects of classroom learning and teaching, helping them to develop insights into a wide range of teaching contexts.
Course Description in Turkish Bu ders kapsamında, aday öğretmenler MEF Üniversitesi’nin anlaşmalı olduğu eğitim kurumlardan birine haftada iki gün (Salı ve Cuma) olmak üzere usta bir öğretmenin rehberliğinde görev almak üzere yerleştirilecektir. Bu ders öğretmen adaylarına okul ortamında öğretime yapılandırılmış bir başlangıç imkanı, öğretim yetkinlikleri edinme imkanı ve öğretim becerilerini geliştirme imkanı sunmayı hedeflemektedir. Adayların usta öğretmen ve üniversite danışmanı desteğiyle ilkokul ve ortaokulda gözlem ve uygulama ödevlerini yapmaları beklenir. Bu staj adaylara İngilizce derslerini gözlemleme ve sınıf-içi öğrenim ve öğretimin çeşitli yönlerini analiz etme fırsatı sunmaktadır.

Teaching MethodsFlipped Learning – Seminar – Discussion – Q & A session. Students are supposed to read the assigned chapter, watch relevant videos and complete pre-class work. Students are expected to participate actively in class discussions to improve their understanding of the core issues at hand.
Homework and ProjectsStudents will have a reading assignment apart from introductory videos as part of the flipped classroom methodology. Students are also expected to answer questions prior to class and complete tasks based on these videos.
